This position will be filled as a Helper-Distribution Designer or Senior Distribution Designer based on experience.

Supervision Level: Under close or directive supervision, following specific instructions as to methods and working details.
Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with external/internal customers to discuss and determine specific requirements, negotiate facility layout, point of service, and proposed service date using the most efficient and cost‑effective method.
- Conduct field investigations; evaluate possible service alternatives; determine appropriate standards and/or specifications; prepare accurate construction drawings, material and labour estimates; interpret customer survey plats; assist in engineering calculations, tables, layouts, studies, and reports.
- Communicate and negotiate right‑of‑way easements and/or permits, determine right‑of‑way clearing needs, and prepare/secure appropriate documents and drawings in accordance with Entergy Standards.
- Interpret and document tariffs, policies, and procedures related to the Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) process.
- Serve as the one‑point of contact for the customer during the design phase and thereafter as needed after the design package has been released for scheduling and construction.
- Communicate and coordinate assigned projects with all Entergy departments and appropriate personnel.
- Approve, release, and assist/create project designs when authorized; create, approve, and release all types of project designs under general supervision; provide training, guidance, mentorship, and oversight to less experienced designers and helpers.
- Follow and adhere to all Entergy safe work practices and policies, including attending and participating in daily/monthly safety meetings.
Experience and Special Qualifications:
- Must have one of the following: 1 year field operations experience (Transmission Line, Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering); completion of Entergy’s Technical Personal Development Program (TPDP); 2‑year Technical Associate Degree in a related field; minimum 60 college hours toward a 4‑year degree in a related field.
- Alternative path: 3 years field operations experience; or 2 years related work experience combined with completion of TPDP or a 2‑year Technical Associate Degree; or a minimum of 60 college hours toward a 4‑year degree with 2 years related experience; or 4‑year Technical Degree in a related field.
- Willing and able to communicate effectively with customers, department management, co‑workers, and other groups through written and oral skills.
- Must complete Designer Training Modules within 18 months.
- Must understand and comply with Entergy’s safety rules; be willing and able to administer approved first aid/CPR methods.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
