HR & Benefits Assistant - Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months (maternity cover) Hybrid (home working, with business travel for key meetings/events). As this role is a contract we are looking for someone available to start on short notice, and before the beginning of August.
The Role Mission & Responsibilities:
The HR & Benefits Assistant plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the UK & Ireland People function, ensuring a positive employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle. Working closely with the HR Director and wider HR team, this role combines HR administration, payroll coordination, benefits management, employee support and HR systems administration. The successful individual will help ensure HR processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with company policies, employment legislation and GDPR requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to broaden their experience across multiple areas of HR whilst developing towards an HR Advisor role within a growing international business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the administration of the complete employee lifecycle including onboarding, contractual changes, benefits administration, employee relations processes and offboarding.
- Prepare HR documentation including offer letters, contracts of employment, change of terms letters, bonus communications and salary review letters.
- Take ownership of the monthly payroll process, ensuring payroll and pension data is prepared, checked and submitted accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Liaise with Finance, payroll providers, pension providers and external partners to ensure payroll is processed correctly each month.
- Maintain accurate employee records across HR systems including Breathe HR, SuccessFactors, SAP and other people platforms.
- Produce HR reports and people data for management reporting and Group HR requirements.
- Act as a first point of contact for HR queries from employees, managers and senior leaders.
- Provide first-line HR guidance in line with company policy, employment legislation and HR frameworks.
- Ensure all HR activities are completed in accordance with employment legislation, company policy and GDPR requirements.
The Successful Candidate:
- Previous experience working within a fast-paced HR team in a HR Administrator, HR Coordinator or HR Assistant capacity.
- Proven experience supporting and processing monthly payroll activities within a HR function.
- Experience working across the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through to offboarding.
- Strong understanding of HR administration, employment documentation and HR processes.
- Experience using HR systems and maintaining employee records.
- Good numerical skills with strong attention to detail, particularly when handling payroll and benefits data.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with employees, managers and external providers.
- A proactive and positive approach with a genuine desire to develop a career in HR.
- High levels of discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential information.
Desirable:
- CIPD Level 3 qualified or currently working towards a CIPD qualification.
- Experience with Breathe HR, SAP SuccessFactors or similar HRIS platforms.
- Experience supporting employee benefits administration and annual renewals.
