Working pattern: Monday–Friday, onsite

We are seeking an experienced Interim Project Manager to join an established engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Bournemouth.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a complex engineering project through the full product lifecycle — from the initial definition of customer requirements and design, through development and manufacturing, to delivery of the finished product.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing the development and manufacture of complex electronic and/or mechanical products, ideally within a highly regulated or technically demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end responsibility for the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
- Manage projects from the initial definition of customer requirements through design, development, manufacturing and final delivery.
- Establish and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and delivery objectives.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing and operational teams.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and change throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with engineering, design, manufacturing, procurement, quality and customer-facing teams.
- Monitor project progress against agreed timescales, budgets and technical requirements.
- Ensure appropriate governance, reporting and project controls are maintained.
- Manage customer requirements and ensure they are translated effectively into technical and manufacturing deliverables.
- Identify potential delivery challenges and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Provide clear project reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Support effective communication between technical teams, management and customers.
- Ensure projects progress through development into production and ultimately to successful delivery.
About You
We are looking for a hands-on Project Manager with genuine end-to-end product development experience.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience managing the design, development and manufacture of a complex electronic and/or mechanical product.
- Experience taking a product from initial customer requirements through to completed production and delivery.
- Strong project management experience within an engineering, manufacturing or product-development environment.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder and customer management skills.
- A structured approach to planning, risk management and delivery.
- The ability to operate confidently in a technically complex environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ideally within defense, aerospace, advanced engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering or other highly regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
Important Requirements
This is a fully onsite position in Bournemouth, Monday to Friday.
Candidates must therefore either:
- Be able to commute to Bournemouth on a daily basis; or
- Be prepared to stay locally during the working week.
Due to the nature of the products and customers involved, the successful candidate will also be required to undergo an appropriate security clearance process.
