We're recruiting for an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join a leading main contractor based in St Albans. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing work-winning team, playing a key role in securing high-value construction projects across new build and refurbishment sectors.

The Role

  • You'll be responsible for developing winning bid strategies by producing detailed tender programmes, construction methodologies and logistics plans.
  • Working closely with bid managers, estimators, consultants and operational teams, you'll ensure submissions are technically robust, buildable and commercially competitive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed tender and construction programmes using Asta Powerproject.
  • Develop construction methodologies, logistics strategies and delivery plans.
  • Lead buildability reviews and identify project risks, sequencing constraints and value engineering opportunities.
  • Support and contribute to high-quality bid submissions and quality responses.
  • Collaborate with estimators, consultants, subcontractors and operational teams throughout the tender process.
  • Develop risk registers and construction sequencing plans.
  • Review planning constraints, consultant scopes and utility strategies where required.
  • Present methodology, programme and logistics proposals to clients and internal stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working for a UK main contractor.
  • Experience working on competitive bids and tender submissions.
  • Strong preconstruction or construction planning background.
  • Proficient in Asta Powerproject (essential).
  • Excellent understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and site logistics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tender submissions and work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
