Defence-associated company based close to Merthyr Tydfil requires a Prototype Wirer to support a busy engineering team on an initial 36 month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension beyond this period. The successful contractor will be responsible for building complete cable harness assemblies for aerospace and defence applications, working to high quality and industry standards.

Cable Harness / Loom building experience is essential. The work predominantly involves the manufacture of large military cable harnesses, so previous experience within aerospace, defence, military, or similar high-specification environments would be highly advantageous.

Essential Experience:

  • Cable Harness & Loom manufacture and assembly
  • Ability to work from Schematics, Wiring Schedules & Verbal Instruction
  • Multi-core cable work
  • Daniels hand tooling and crimping on D38999 series connector
  • Manual solder sleeve application
  • Overall screening
  • Heat shrinkable sleeve application
  • Heat shrinkable booting
  • Adhesive application and finishing techniques

Contract Details:

  • Initial 36 month contract, although likely to extend beyond this
  • Expected to extend beyond the initial term
  • 4045 hours per week
  • £30.00 per hour (FCSA Umbrella role deemed inside IR35)
  • Alternatively, £22.00 per hour PAYE

Candidates must have previous cable harness / loom manufacturing experience and be comfortable working to the high standards required within the aerospace and defence sectors.
