An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Build/Rig Technician to join the Test & Development team of a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Peterborough. Working within a busy engine development environment, you'll play a key role in building, stripping, rebuilding and preparing diesel engines for testing, supporting a range of current and future development programmes.
The Role Responsibilities will include:
- Building, stripping and rebuilding diesel engines
- Preparing engines for testing within dedicated test facilities
- Rigging and de-rigging engines
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and supporting root cause investigations
- Working closely with engineering and test teams to support development activities
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Maintaining accurate build records and ensuring high quality standards
- Supporting Lean, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have experience in one or more of the following:
- Engine build and mechanical assembly
- Engine overhaul, repair or maintenance
- Automotive, HGV, plant machinery, military or aerospace engineering
- Engine test, development or workshop environments
- Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
- Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering
Military engineering backgrounds and candidates with transferable mechanical assembly experience are also encouraged to apply.
