We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with active DV clearance to join a live, high-profile programme supporting a critical operational environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working closely with operational users, analytical teams, planners and digital delivery teams to understand how information flows through complex, real-world operations.
This is not a documentation-focused architecture position. We are looking for someone who can engage directly with stakeholders, identify where data is creating operational challenges, and deliver pragmatic improvements that enable faster, more informed decision-making.
The Role
- You will assess how data is created, shared and consumed across operational processes, identifying where poor data quality, fragmented systems or inefficient information flows are impacting effectiveness.
- Working alongside business and technical stakeholders, you will define practical data models, standards and integration approaches that improve interoperability today while contributing to the longer-term data architecture.
- You will also identify opportunities to enable greater automation and AI through improvements to data quality, accessibility and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with operational stakeholders to understand business processes, mission threads and information requirements.
- Identify what data is required, where it resides, who owns it and the barriers to accessing, trusting and exploiting it.
- Deliver practical, short-term improvements that enhance operational decision-making.
- Define common data models, information standards and integration patterns across multiple systems.
- Map data and information flows and establish clear data ownership and governance.
- Ensure alignment between data architecture and the wider enterprise architecture.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation and support future AI capabilities through better data interoperability.
Required Experience
- Active DV clearance is essential.
- Proven experience as a Data Architect within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong background in data modelling, information architecture and data integration.
- Experience mapping data flows and defining common data standards.
- Ability to work directly with operational stakeholders to understand business processes and translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Experience improving data quality, governance and interoperability across multiple systems.
- An understanding of enterprise architecture principles.
- Experience supporting automation and AI initiatives through effective data architecture is highly desirable.
If you are a pragmatic Data Architect who enjoys solving real operational challenges rather than simply producing architecture documentation, we'd like to hear from you.
