Senior Enterprise Architect – Infrastructure & Cloud

Reports to: Head of Enterprise Architecture

Role Purpose

We are seeking a strong, pragmatic Senior Enterprise Architect with a deep infrastructure and cloud background to provide enterprise-wide architectural oversight and leadership.

The Senior Enterprise Architect will drive rigor, governance, and strategic direction across infrastructure, cloud, and platform architecture, supporting major transformation initiatives as the organisation moves from regulatory stabilisation into growth and strategic change.

This is a senior, hands‐on leadership role. The Senior Enterprise Architect is the senior authority for infrastructure and cloud architecture, responsible for shaping and governing enterprise architecture while leading and influencing internal and SI‐based architects.

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide overall architectural oversight across infrastructure, cloud, and platform domainsDrive architectural rigor, standards, and governance across the enterpriseChair or contribute to architecture governance forums and design authoritiesEnsure architecture decisions are pragmatic, proportionate, and aligned to business scale and funding realities

Lead and govern large‐scale infrastructure initiatives including:

Data centre rationalisation and migrationCloud migration and hybrid architecturePlatform modernisationOwn and evolve the target‐state infrastructure and cloud architectureProvide architectural direction across Azure (primary strategic direction) and AWS environments

Transformation ProgrammesAct as lead Senior Enterprise Architect across key programmes including:

Core platform and hosting transformationSingle Customer ViewReporting and data environmentsDirect customer‐facing capabilitiesTranslate business strategy into executable technology and architecture roadmapsLead architecture input into the next phase of the bank\’s evolutionPartner closely with senior technology, data, and business leaders to shape future‐state architectureOwn and govern the Enterprise Architecture repository and artefactsUse and mature the organisation\’s Enterprise Architecture management toolingOversee architecture documentation, standards, and lifecycle management

Team Leadership & Stakeholder ManagementLine manage and lead a small architecture teamProvide oversight and quality assurance of Business Architecture outputsWork effectively with system integrator partners while maintaining strong internal architectural control

Required Experience & SkillsProven experience operating as a Senior Enterprise Architect within complex, regulated environmentsStrong background in infrastructure‐led architectureProven delivery of cloud and hybrid‐cloud transformationsWorking knowledge of AWS environmentsExperience establishing and enforcing architecture governance and standardsAbility to operate pragmatically in a mid‐size organisation (not big‐bank over‐engineering)Experience working with or leading SI‐based architecture teamsExposure to core banking platform transformations

Salary & PackageCompetitive senior salary, benchmarked up to £120,000 base + car + bonus
