Business Architect | Up to £80,000 + car allowance + bonus | Watford, hybrid
Be the first Business Architect in a newly formed practice at a major construction and development group. You'll help decide where the business invests, set change up to succeed, and connect strategy to the way the business actually runs.
The role
Permanent, full-time
3 days a week at the Watford head office, with some time in London
Up to £80,000 base, plus car allowance, bonus and benefits
About our client
A major international construction and development group with a large UK business spanning civil engineering, buildings and facilities management. Business architecture is a new practice here, backed by an executive mandate to improve how the business delivers projects and runs its operations. You'll join a small team alongside business analysts and the enterprise architecture function, with plans to grow.
What you'll be doing as a Business Architect
- Assessing capability maturity and helping leaders prioritise where to invest, including build, buy or partner decisions
- Sitting on the change gateway boards to judge business value, deliverability and knock-on effects of proposed change
- Shaping target operating models, business plans and future-state design with senior leaders
- Working hand in hand with IT and solution architects to connect process, data and technology to business capabilities
- Evolving the UK capability model and value streams in the enterprise architecture tool
- Supporting change at every level, from individual projects to enterprise-wide
What we're looking for from the Business Architect
- Business architecture, operating model or capability-led design experience, whether from a classic architecture path or a less direct one
- Confidence talking to IT architects and facilitating senior strategy and business planning conversations. Strength in either is welcome, both is ideal
- Comfort building something new, where the role will evolve as the practice proves its value
- Curiosity, pragmatism and the ability to influence without direct authority
- Construction, infrastructure or asset-heavy sector experience is a plus, not a requirement
- Strong senior BAs, operating model leads or product owners ready to step up are encouraged to apply
Qualifications
- No specific qualifications required. TOGAF or BIZBOK is welcome
- You must be eligible for UK security clearance. Sponsorship is not available for this role
- Be the first Business Architect and help shape the practice, its methods and its standards
- A seat at the table where investment and change decisions are made
- An evolving practice, not a big-bang transformation, with room to grow your remit
- Up to £80,000 base plus car allowance, bonus and benefits
