Company Description

Sports betting, gaming and interactive entertainment is changing, and we\'re leading that change. By putting people first. By placing exciting, engaging and entertaining experiences at more fingertips than ever before. We\'re pulling into pole position by pushing boundaries further. With innovation. With technology. But most importantly, with people like you. Because when you join Entain, it\'s your game. So let\'s win together.

Job Description

As a Games Mathematician, you will design and deliver the core mathematical models that define Entain\'s exclusive slot and gambling games. Working across multiple studios - covering online and retail slots, and occasionally other formats - you\'ll create par sheets that act as the formal specification for back-end engineers. Your work ensures games meet regulatory standards, deliver the intended RTP and volatility profile, and create compelling player experiences.

This is a mid-level role where you will work under the mentorship of a Senior Mathematician, who sets standards, reviews your work, and supports your development towards greater independence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain par sheets for slot games, including RTP, hit rates, volatility profiles, feature frequency, and paytable structures
  • Ensure par sheets are mathematically robust, reproducible, and production-ready for server developers
  • Translate creative slot game concepts into balanced and compliant mathematical models that meet both design intent and market requirements
  • Build and validate par sheets from existing back-end servers in collaboration with server engineers
  • Run extensive simulations to test and refine models, verifying RTP, volatility, and feature distribution
  • Support game launches across online and retail slot studios, ensuring accuracy and consistency of the maths model through to release
  • Deliver maths models that meet the standards of multiple regulated markets, including UKGC and US state jurisdictions, with expanding coverage into .com and European markets
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of maths templates, simulation tools, and modelling processes
  • Work closely with Heads of Studio (game designers) and producers to ensure maths underpins the creative direction of each game
  • Document all models and assumptions to certification standards, ensuring clarity for regulators and internal stakeholders

Qualifications

Essential:
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel for building par sheets, validating models, and running probability-based calculations
  • Proficiency in C++ or Python for developing simulations and verifying game outcomes.
  • Direct experience with slot maths - including RTP, hit frequency, volatility, paytable design, and feature balance
  • Proven ability to run and interpret simulations to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills with close attention to mathematical integrity.
  • Effective collaborator with creative and technical teams, able to explain maths concepts clearly to non-specialists
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of certification and compliance requirements for UKGC and US state-regulated markets
  • Experience working across multiple game types, with a focus on slots
  • Understanding of how mathematical profiles influence player behaviour, engagement, and commercial performance
  • Exposure to production pipelines in slot or gambling game development
  • Accuracy first - delivers models that are mathematically precise and reliable
  • Compliance aware - understands the importance of certification standards and regulatory alignment
  • Collaborative - works effectively with designers, producers, and engineers across multiple studios
  • Open to feedback - refines work through review with Senior Mathematician.
  • Ownership - delivers agreed outputs to time and quality
  • Integrity - ensures fairness and transparency in all modelling
