The Data Product Owner (DPO) plays a key role in defining, developing, and delivering the new analytics platform that will integrate data across our regions. The DPO translates business needs into clear data product definitions, ensuring the platform delivers trusted, consistent, and high‑quality data to power performance reporting, insights, decision‑making, and innovation across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Product Ownership: Define and maintain the roadmap for data products within assigned domains (e.g., Commercial, Finance, Marketing), ensuring alignment with business priorities. Translate business requirements into clear data product definitions and data contracts for each layer of the data platform (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Partner with data engineering to design and deliver scalable, reliable data pipelines and models that meet agreed service levels and performance targets. Own the intake and delivery of requests for new or expanded data, coordinating the technical team to ensure stakeholder needs are captured, prioritised, and delivered through governed data products, while safeguarding a single source of truth. Ensure data products are discoverable, well‑documented, and reusable across regions and business units.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Define and enforce quality expectations, validation rules, and freshness SLAs for data products. Ensure each dataset has clear ownership, metadata, and lineage documented in the data catalogue. Work with governance teams to maintain a single source of truth and standardised metrics across regions.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with regional analytics, engineering, and commercial teams to prioritise data needs and coordinate delivery. Align data producers and consumers (BI, Finance, Marketing) so models underpin trusted reporting and communicate priorities/progress to senior stakeholders.
  • Strategy & Continuous Improvement: Support the creation of a data platform that scales across multiple regions and domains while remaining modular and adaptable. Drive adoption of best practices in data modelling, metadata management, and semantic layer development. Continuously improve documentation, processes, and communication between data and business teams.

Competencies & Behaviours

  • Strategic thinker with a strong product mindset — focused on delivering business value through data.
  • Excellent communicator, able to explain technical data concepts in clear, accessible language.
  • Highly collaborative, able to align diverse teams across regions, functions, and technical disciplines.
  • Organised and proactive, capable of prioritising competing demands and managing multiple roadmaps.
  • Detail‑oriented, ensuring high standards of data quality, documentation, and governance.
  • Comfortable working in an evolving environment, building from foundation to scale.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data product ownership, data management, or analytics product development.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and provide clear structure and transparency on project progress.
  • Expert‑level proficiency of data modelling concepts (conceptual, logical, physical) and modern data architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers, dbt, semantic layers).
  • Hands‑on familiarity with data transformation tools (e.g., dbt), SQL, and modern data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of business domains such as Commercial, Finance, or Marketing, with the ability to translate business logic into structured data models.
  • Experience defining and maintaining data contracts, SLAs, and governance standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong working knowledge of distributed data ownership and data mesh principles.
  • Background in analytics, data engineering, or BI development preferred.
  • Fluency in English.
