Efficient, accurate and fair adjustment of International Marine, Energy and Construction claims, with a particular focus on international third party liability/injury claims, within authority limits and in line with key performance measures.

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for adjusting Marine, Energy and Construction claims within authority limits and in accordance with the Enstar Claims Handling Philosophy and associated key performance measures including Lloyd’s Minimum Standards.
  • Accountability for claims decisions across a portfolio consisting predominantly of lead claims with a follow market, acting within authority limits.
  • Reporting to the Syndicate 2008 claims management team where appropriate, in particular where claims are above, or have the potential to exceed own authority limits.
  • Identifying the nature of the applicable claims agreement role and acting accordingly; if necessary, communicating to follow market participants in a regular and timely manner.
  • Setting appropriate and accurate case reserves in a timely manner and in accordance with Enstar Reserving Philosophy. Where applicable, ensuring the timely production of CMG reports to include all pertinent facts.
  • Ensuring prompt payment of valid claims.
  • Maintaining accurate claims data across Enstar’s claims management systems and ensuring that all claims documents are appropriately filed in the appropriate document storage repository.
  • Provide appropriate triage of incoming claims.
  • Developing positive, professional dialogue with all internal and external stakeholders relating to claims matters.
  • Supervision of TPAs and other entities with delegated authority to include, where appropriate, assisting in arranging audits and undertaking any follow up work as necessary.
  • Liaising with external experts and lawyers and managing each in accordance with the applicable Terms of Engagement.
  • Representing the Company at external meetings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Set-up, administer and manage a case diary and appropriate follow-up on all claims.
  • Assist in preparation of Management Information reports where specific claims information is requested by other business areas.
  • Support the embedded Company culture of Treating Customers Fairly and Conduct Risk, while ensuring compliance with all Company strategies and regulatory or statutory requirements.
  • Undertake training and development opportunities to develop technical claims handling ability predominantly in the Marine, Energy and Construction arenas.
  • In addition to the above key responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.

What You Will Bring

  • Ideally, 10+ years’ reinsurance claims handling experience.
  • Previous experience of working in insurance markets (10+ years).
  • Good knowledge of the primary class(es) of business, to include an understanding of the operation of the policy and associated coverage issues.
  • Market awareness and knowledge in dealing with other industry parties, to have a good market network, to understand the issues impacting the market generally, and an ability to show market intelligence.
  • Competent on all market claims systems.
  • Good working knowledge of the London Market processes and procedures.
  • Intermediate level of use and understanding of MS software.
  • Mental agility, able to think innovatively. A bright individual who can and provide constructive input and show the ability to investigate, question, explore and innovate.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Someone who is able to present views in a professional way to a variety of stakeholders who have differing needs with regard to content and the level of detail.
  • Strong analytical skills in order to identify trends in data and then design and implement improvement strategies in order to find pragmatic solutions.
  • Adjusting skills, the ability to identify early exposure and to plan and consider an appropriate resolution strategy in line with the Claims Philosophy.
