The Data Manager (MDM) will play a critical role in advancing Enstar's enterprise data governance and master data capabilities. This role ensures that the company's core reference and master data — including entities such as policy, claims, counterparties, and chart of accounts — are accurate, consistent, and governed across systems and business units.
Reporting to the Head of Data Management, the Data Manager will serve as the subject matter expert in data governance, data quality, and MDM tooling (such as Profisee, Purview, or equivalent technologies). They will oversee the lifecycle of master data across Finance, Actuarial, Claims, and Investments, ensuring that critical data is trusted, compliant, and aligned to regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, Solvency II, DORA).
This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on delivery — establishing standards, defining policies, and embedding MDM practices across Enstar's data platform while collaborating with Data Architecture, Engineering, and Business Data Owners to drive adoption and long-term data stewardship.
What you will be doing:
- Define and implement the enterprise Master Data Management strategy, ensuring alignment with Enstar's data platform, architecture, and governance frameworks.
- Own the master data model for key business domains (e.g., Policy, Claims, Legal Entity, Chart of Accounts), ensuring consistent definitions, hierarchies, and lineage.
- Lead governance processes to maintain master data accuracy, version control, and lifecycle management across multiple jurisdictions and systems.
- Establish and maintain data ownership and stewardship models, working with business leads to embed accountability for data quality.
- Oversee metadata management, taxonomy design, and data lineage tracking in collaboration with Microsoft Purview and other governance tools.
- Define and enforce data quality standards, thresholds, and controls to support financial reporting, regulatory submissions, and operational analytics.
- Collaborate with Risk, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure master data adheres to relevant regulatory and audit requirements.
- Implement automated data validation, reconciliation, and exception management processes within the MDM toolset.
- Lead configuration and operational management of the enterprise MDM platform (e.g., Profisee), including integration with Snowflake and other downstream systems.
- Develop and document data mastering rules, survivorship logic, and golden record creation processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of MDM automation, metadata capture, and workflow orchestration to enhance scalability and efficiency.
- Partner with Data Engineering and Architecture to align MDM integration patterns, ensuring reliability and traceability of data exchange.
- Serve as the key liaison between business functions and technical teams on all matters related to master data.
- Deliver training and best-practice guidance to business stewards and data owners, embedding a culture of governed data usage.
- Support the Data Office in reporting progress against data governance KPIs, including quality metrics, adoption rates, and policy compliance.
What You Will Bring:
- 10–12 years of experience in data management, data governance, or MDM delivery, ideally within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.
- Proven track record implementing or managing enterprise MDM platforms (e.g., Profisee, Informatica, Reltio, or similar).
- Experience defining and governing master data models across multiple domains (e.g., Policy, Claims, Legal Entity, Chart of Accounts).
- Demonstrated success in embedding data ownership and stewardship frameworks within business operations.
- Hands-on experience in data quality management, including rule creation, measurement, and remediation workflows.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM) and regulatory expectations (GDPR, Solvency II, DORA).
- Deep familiarity with metadata management, taxonomy design, and data lineage principles.
- Knowledge of data integration and architecture patterns, particularly between MDM systems and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Data Services).
- Proficient in data modeling concepts (hierarchies, golden records, reference data structures, survivorship rules).
- Understanding of change management and adoption practices required to implement data governance successfully.
