Overview
The HR Advisor will provide professional, efficient, and compliant HR support across the employee lifecycle, with a particular focus on employee relations, legal compliance, policy development, onboarding logistics, training coordination, and accurate record-keeping. Working closely with the Head of Talent, this role ensures that the business remains legally compliant, well‑documented, and supported through clear, consistent HR processes. This position is ideal for someone confident with UK employment law, comfortable managing ER matters, and able to balance day‑to‑day HR tasks with proactive support for people‑related initiatives.
The Role
- Employee Relations & Legal Compliance
- Act as the first point of contact for ER queries, escalating where required.
- Support managers with investigations, disciplinary & grievance processes, capability, absence management, and informal conflict resolution.
- Ensure all HR activities, decisions, and documentation comply with UK employment law and company policies.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legal changes and advise the business on implications.
- Draft letters, investigation packs, and formal documentation to a high standard.
- Ensure GDPR compliance across all HR processes and systems.
- Own the visa application process for international candidates.
- Maintain and update company HR policies, procedures, and templates.
- Support the creation of employment contracts, change forms, and formal HR letters.
- Keep accurate and well‑organised employee records, trackers, and HR databases.
- Assist with developing structured workflows and documentation for onboarding, performance, and compliance processes.
- Oversee the administrative elements of onboarding, including offer letters, contracts, right‑to‑work documentation, background checks, and starter packs.
- Coordinate onboarding schedules, induction materials, and mandatory training completion.
- Ensure all new starter information is captured, recorded, and communicated to relevant teams.
- Co‑lead and support early‑stage delivery of HR‑led training modules (e.g., sexual harassment, data protection, cyber security, company values).
- Help coordinate training schedules, attendance records, and follow‑ups.
- Support creation and updating of training materials, guides, and content.
- Provide day‑to‑day HR advice to employees and managers in line with company policy.
- Assist with probation reviews, appraisal cycles, and performance documentation.
- Support HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the function.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in an Advisor or HR generalist role within the UK.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and ER processes.
- Confident handling investigations, formal meetings, and HR documentation.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
