Enso Recruitment are delighted to be working with a highly regarded professional services organisation who are continuing to grow their specialist tax team and are now looking to bring an experienced R&D Tax Financial Analyst on board. The Opportunity This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-driven finance professional who wants to develop genuine specialist expertise in a niche and growing area of tax. Working closely with a team of experienced R&D Managers, you'll take ownership of the financial preparation of R&D tax relief claims across a diverse portfolio of clients. From collating and analysing data through to reconciliation and presenting qualifying expenditure. It's a role that suits someone who is highly organised, comfortable working with complex financial data, and confident managing multiple deadlines across a busy client portfolio. Key Responsibilities Collate financial information from clients including payroll reports, general ledger data, invoices, contractor schedules, and project cost records Prepare R&D claim cost schedules across relevant expenditure categories including staff costs, subcontractors, software, cloud computing, and consumables Reconcile claim figures to client accounting records including management accounts, payroll records, and Corporation Tax schedules Support apportionment calculations where costs relate to both qualifying and non-qualifying R&D activities Document assumptions, methodologies, and evidence used to support financial values included in each claim Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or unsupported costs in client data, raising queries with R&D Managers or client finance teams as appropriate Maintain clear working papers and evidence packs to support internal review and potential HMRC enquiry responses Work across multiple client files simultaneously, ensuring claim costings are accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines About You Proven experience in finance, accounting, audit, tax, or financial analysis Strong Excel skills including reconciliations, pivot tables, data analysis, and structured working papers Comfortable interpreting payroll, ledger, invoice, and project cost data Exceptional attention to detail with a sharp eye for anomalies in financial information Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across a busy portfolio A proactive and inquisitive approach.
