Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Contract Manager to support a major government technology programme in Northern Ireland. Operating within a multi-party delivery environment, the successful candidate will act as a trusted commercial adviser to programme leadership, ensuring contractual obligations, commercial risks, change control processes, and formal communications are effectively managed and aligned with delivery activities. This is a hands-on role requiring experience of commercial management within prime-led public sector programmes, together with the credibility to engage confidently with senior stakeholders across delivery, commercial, legal, and customer organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage contractual obligations registers, ensuring delivery activities remain aligned with contractual commitments.
- Establish and operate robust change control processes, including the review and tracking of change requests and contractual impacts.
- Monitor contractual performance mechanisms, including milestones, acceptance criteria, KPIs, SLAs, and associated commercial obligations.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage commercial and contractual risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive contemporaneous record of key decisions, delays, dependencies, and third-party impacts.
- Support programme leadership by providing practical commercial advice and contractual interpretation.
- Draft and review formal contractual correspondence, including notices, change requests, claims preservation letters, and responses to contractor communications.
- Represent the company in governance forums and commercial discussions with delivery partners and stakeholders.
- Ensure all external communications accurately reflect and protect contractual and commercial position.
- Support executive decision-making by providing clear analysis of contractual exposure, risks, and options.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience in commercial and contract management within complex technology or transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor management within prime contractor delivery models.
- Experience working on public sector or regulated programmes.
- Proven ability to operate within complex multi-stakeholder governance environments.
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, change control, risk management, and commercial governance.
- Experience preparing contractual notices, claims-related correspondence, and commercial position papers.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement at executive level.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting large-scale government technology deployments.
- Familiarity with Northern Ireland public sector delivery environments.
- Experience working alongside systems integrators and major delivery partners.
