Enso Recruitment is proud to be working with a global, technology-driven financial services organisation who are expanding their engineering capability within a highly critical connectivity platform. They are now seeking an experienced Java Engineer to join a specialist team building and supporting low-latency, client-facing connectivity services.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone with strong Java experience, a background in electronic trading environments, and a deep understanding of FIX-based connectivity.
The Role
You’ll be part of a team responsible for designing, enhancing, and supporting a business-critical connectivity platform used by external clients and internal trading systems. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and enhancing client-facing and outbound connectivity services
- Supporting and evolving FIX-based connectivity platforms in a production environment
- Contributing to the design and improvement of automated testing frameworks
- Participating in functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
- Acting as third-line support for complex production issues
- Working closely with product, support, and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve platform stability
- Contributing to the ongoing reliability, performance, and scalability of connectivity services
About You
- Strong commercial experience as a Java Engineer working on Linux-based systems
- Background in electronic trading environments or trading system providers
- Solid working knowledge of the FIX Protocol
- Experience building and supporting distributed systems and messaging-based architectures
- Comfortable working with SQL, Linux, and backend system troubleshooting
- Exposure to Python for scripting, tooling, or automation
- Confident operating in high-availability, low-latency environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
