Cawood is the largest independent provider of analytical laboratory testing and sampling services for the land-based industries in the UK. With 15 sites around the country specialising in different types of analysis, we are always looking for skilled and talented individuals to join our teams. This is an exciting time to join Cawood. Job Description:

  • To communicate with all co-workers in a professional manner if there are any discrepancies/queries.
  • Communicating any problems that may affect quality or service delivery to the Team Leader or Section manager in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and analyse all samples accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Correctly report all samples into LIMS.
  • Prepare chemical standards and reagents in line with our Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures provided.
  • Maintain Cawood credibility by always portraying a positive image by keeping equipment and PPE clean.
  • Respect company equipment ensuring to use them as per guidelines and to report any damage to management as soon as possible.
  • Work as a team and maintain morale and actively offer help and assistance wherever possible.
  • Responsible for keeping safety at the forefront of lab work and being proactive ensuring accidents and near misses are always reported straightaway to Managers in line with our company accreditation and policy.
  • When required, assist with on-site training of new employees providing proactive support ensuring their onboarding into the company is friendly, engaging, and inspiring.
  • Use of the following instrumentation, after successful training: ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV-VIS, analytical balances, ovens and furnaces.

  • Maintain safe, compliant and effective working standards.

Efficiency:

  • Constantly review & optimise your ways of working.
  • Share good practice and be prepared to suggest better ways of working.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping quality of work to a high standard.

Communication:

  • Understand and utilise the structural reporting lines - they are there to support you.
  • Report problems in the lab effectively and promptly.

  • Grasp opportunities to broaden your own horizons and development.
  • Embrace change and seek clarity when required.
