Position Summary
The Product Manager for API owns the strategy and delivery for one of ENSEK's most critical platform capabilities: the API-as-a-product framework. In this role you are accountable for defining a consistent, scalable approach to how APIs are built, governed, and consumed — internally and externally. You work closely with engineering, commercial, and domain teams to ensure these platform investments unlock measurable value across the business.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, vision and roadmap for both the API-as-a-product programme — engaging stakeholders across engineering, commercial, and customer teams to define, validate and iterate it continuously.
- Define and drive a consistent framework for API definition and management across three tiers: internal domain APIs, cross-NSEC internal APIs, and external APIs for customers, brokers, and third parties.
- Make evidence-based prioritisation decisions, estimating effort and value of roadmap items using AI-powered estimation tools, and communicating trade-offs transparently with stakeholders.
- Define and track key product outcomes — implementing dashboards for real-time performance visibility and using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Build long-term stakeholder relationships, implementing communications strategies and influencing effectively to drive alignment and outcomes.
Key Outcomes
- A consistent, governed API framework adopted across internal and external consumers, with measurable improvement in API reliability and developer experience.
- Roadmap delivered to agreed timelines, with clear evidence of value realised against investment.
- Defined and tracked KPIs for API areas, with regular data-driven reviews.
- Positive stakeholder feedback on communication, transparency and decision-making quality.
- Growing team confidence and capability as a result of your product leadership.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience owning and delivering a platform or infrastructure product end-to-end, ideally including API management or developer tooling.
- Ability to make autonomous, data-informed product decisions and communicate them clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, including senior commercial partners.
- Ability to create and maintain a product roadmap tied to strategy and outcomes.
- Experience working in energy, utility tech, SaaS, or platform-based product environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with API management tooling, experimentation platforms, and AI productivity tools is advantageous.
Company Benefits
- 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays
- Option to buy or sell 5 extra annual leave days per year
- Vitality Health Insurance, including private healthcare, virtual GP access, mental‑health support and wellbeing perks (50% off gym memberships - Virgin Active, Nuffield, PureGym)
