Position Summary
The Product Manager for API & AI Framework owns the strategy and delivery for two of ENSEK's most critical platform capabilities: the API-as-a-product framework and the agentic AI infrastructure. You are accountable for defining a consistent, scalable approach to how APIs are built, governed, and consumed — internally and externally — while simultaneously establishing the foundational AI framework that powers intelligent case management and future agentic capabilities. You work closely with engineering, commercial, and domain teams to ensure these platform investments unlock measurable value across the business.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, vision and roadmap for both the API-as-a-product programme and the agentic AI framework — engaging stakeholders across engineering, commercial, and customer teams to define, validate and iterate it continuously.
- Define and drive a consistent framework for API definition and management across three tiers: internal domain APIs, cross-NSEC internal APIs, and external APIs for customers, brokers, and third parties.
- Lead product thinking for the agentic AI infrastructure, including agent orchestration, LLM ops, cost monitoring, and metrics — ensuring the case management team and other consumers have the foundational AI capabilities they need.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to prioritise and unblock the delivery of AI framework components (intent classification, summarisation, billing checks) needed to reach MVP for beta testing.
- Make evidence-based prioritisation decisions, estimating effort and value of roadmap items using AI-powered estimation tools, and communicating trade-offs transparently with stakeholders.
- Define and track key product outcomes — implementing dashboards for real-time performance visibility and using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Build long-term stakeholder relationships, implementing communications strategies and influencing effectively to drive alignment and outcomes.
Key Outcomes
- A consistent, governed API framework adopted across internal and external consumers, with measurable improvement in API reliability and developer experience.
- Agentic AI infrastructure delivered to support case management MVP beta within 3–4 months, with clear ownership of LLM ops, cost monitoring, and agent orchestration.
- Roadmap delivered to agreed timelines, with clear evidence of value realised against investment.
- Defined and tracked KPIs for API and AI framework areas, with regular data-driven reviews.
- Positive stakeholder feedback on communication, transparency and decision-making quality.
- Growing team confidence and capability as a result of your product leadership.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience owning and delivering a platform or infrastructure product end-to-end, ideally including API management or developer tooling.
- Understanding of agentic AI concepts (LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, LLM ops) sufficient to make credible product decisions and work effectively with data science and engineering teams.
- Ability to make autonomous, data-informed product decisions and communicate them clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, including senior commercial partners.
- Ability to create and maintain a product roadmap tied to strategy and outcomes.
- Experience working in energy, utility tech, SaaS, or platform-based product environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with API management tooling, experimentation platforms, and AI productivity tools is advantageous.
Company Benefits
- 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays
- Option to buy or sell 5 extra annual leave days per year
- Vitality Health Insurance, including private healthcare, virtual GP access, mental‑health support and wellbeing perks (50% off gym memberships - Virgin Active, Nuffield, PureGym)
- Pension with 5% matched contribution
- Regular team‑wide and company‑wide events
- 2 volunteering days per year to give back
- Remote‑first working environment with offices in London and Nottingham
