About the role

The Platform Engineer II delivers high‑quality, scalable, and well‑designed platform services and tooling within a cross‑functional team. Building on foundational experience, this role demonstrates increasing autonomy, contributes to platform design discussions, applies advanced infrastructure and engineering practices, and supports iterative, value‑led delivery. Operating within ENSEK’s engineering principles, the Platform Engineer II collaborates with product and engineering peers to improve developer experience and golden path adoption while continuously developing their technical and behavioural capabilities.

Key responsibilities:

    • Break platform work down effectively into incremental, testable slices.
    • Refine and estimate work with growing confidence and accuracy.
    • Apply agile principles, promoting short feedback loops and reducing unnecessary complexity.
    • Communicate clearly using concise, developer‑focused language; contribute to golden path documentation so teams can self-serve.
  • Engineering Practices
    • Write readable, maintainable, and testable infrastructure-as-code and platform tooling following ENSEK standards (e.g. Terraform, Crossplane, Helm).
    • Contribute idea‑driven input to platform design discussions and understand wider infrastructure and cloud-native system considerations.
    • Apply test‑first thinking and write appropriate unit and integration tests for platform tooling and infrastructure changes.
    • Participate in defining and improving platform testing strategies, including infrastructure validation.
    • Contribute to observability, alerting, and production validation across platform services.
    • Follow and advocate for secure coding and infrastructure practices, including least-privilege access and supply chain hygiene.
  • Engineering Community
    • Share learning with peers, contribute to community knowledge‑sharing sessions, and help onboard engineers onto platform tooling.
    • Participate actively in platform and engineering guilds, workshops, or improvement initiatives.
    • Model ENSEK’s engineering values, champion platform adoption, and support capability uplift across teams.
