About the role

ENSEK is seeking a third lawyer to join the ENSEK Legal Team, reporting to the Head of Legal. This role will play an important part in supporting the business and enabling its ambitious growth plans through the provision of clear, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice. This is an opportunity to help shape how legal support is delivered across the business - working closely with senior stakeholders and helping to drive continuous improvement in legal processes to support the business’ growth plans.

We are looking for a UK qualified lawyer with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in commercial law, with demonstrated experience negotiating complex contracts - ideally in a technology or SaaS environment. Strong working knowledge of data protection and UK GDPR is also preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to balance risk management with commercial pragmatism, and thrive in a fast-moving technology business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing clear, pragmatic advice to internal stakeholders and advising on contract risks, legal and compliance obligations and other miscellaneous queries handled by the legal team.
  • Helping design and implement new legal processes and workflows, including supporting the transition to more automated systems to improve efficiency.
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a range of commercial contracts including NDAs, heads of terms, MSAs, Framework Agreements, customer contracts, supplier contracts, DPAs, partnering arrangements and reseller arrangements.
  • Applying ENSEK’s contract playbook(s) when drafting and negotiating legal contracts and identifying deviations that require additional internal approvals.
  • Supporting ENSEK’s contract management processes and the management of the legal team’s central documentation repository.
  • Providing support in relation to documenting specifications and requirements suitable to be included in a contract.
  • Advising on new supplier contracts and supporting ENSEK’s supplier due diligence and on-boarding processes.
  • Managing ENSEK's pre-litigation handling of disputes, including information gathering, providing initial internal opinions and supporting the preparation of without prejudice responses, offers and commercial settlements.
  • Instructing and managing external legal advisers (where applicable), including management of deadlines and budget.
  • Advising on data protection and supporting ENSEK’s DPO.

Experience required:

  • 3-4 years as a UK qualified solicitor, with experience in negotiating, drafting and advising on commercial contracts in a technology or SaaS environment and experience advising on data protection.
  • Ability to think commercially and support the business on the legal and commercial implications of its contracting and other arrangements, including assessment and management of risk.
  • Confidence to constructively challenge others, and use knowledge and experience to come up with solutions.
  • Ability to independently manage varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Experience in using AI to streamline legal processes preferred but not essential provided there is a willingness to utilise AI.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness to develop sector knowledge and get involved in areas related to core knowledge.
