ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Software Engineers are responsible for working together to write clean code and deliver optimal outcomes. As part of the squad, you will contribute to the design and implementation of solutions for a product line. You will demonstrate your knowledge and practical experience, follow coding standards, and participate in daily scrums, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and refinements.

The level of technical skills, competency, and experience varies according to the role level – please refer to the competency framework for details.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with the Product Owner to define PBIs and subtasks for business-driven work or technical debt, ensuring non-functional requirements are captured appropriately.
  2. Collaborate with the Technical Lead to understand technical context and direction, review and refine deliverables, and ensure alignment with technical standards.
  3. Write new software or modify existing software independently or with team members to meet new business or technical requirements or to fix defects.
  4. Implement appropriate test code at unit, component, integration, and system levels, executing automated and manual test cases as relevant.
  5. Identify and troubleshoot functional or non-functional issues, raising clearly defined defects as needed.
  6. Work with the Engineering Manager and Agile Enablement team to adopt tools and methodologies supporting high-quality software delivery.
  7. Contribute to guilds to share best practices and improve outcomes.
  8. Continuously learn and develop expertise within the engineering function.
  9. Proactively suggest improvements to engineering processes at ENSEK.
  10. Maintain a positive attitude, build collaborative relationships, and share skills within the team.
  11. Add value to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders by practicing and promoting ENSEK values.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  1. Experience or knowledge of C#, SQL, and JavaScript; good understanding of OO design and SOLID principles.
  2. Interest in cloud-based technologies; experience is advantageous.

SOFT SKILLS

  1. Enthusiastic and passionate about technology and software development best practices.
  2. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Team player with experience working remotely within a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Detail-oriented, adhering to policies and governance applicable to the role.
  6. A degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is advantageous but not essential.
  7. Experience working in an agile environment and within the Energy/Utilities sector is advantageous but not essential.
