Experienced HR Advisor required for a six month fixed term contract (full time hours Monday to Friday, office based) based in Southend on Sea, salary £31,146 (pro rata). Must be available at short notice. This role requires a full DBS check and involves working in the health and social care sector.

Responsible for supporting the delivery of people-related processes across the care provider that support the Company’s business objectives.

As an HR Advisor, you will undertake generalist HR functions such as the day-to-day delivery of HR operations, policies and procedures incorporating employee relations, training and development, recruitment, and sickness absence monitoring management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working proactively with managers on a range of employment areas such as HR policy and best practice, wellbeing, flexible working, and absence management.
  • Providing training, coaching, and advice to line managers, ensuring procedures are adhered to for all cases including discipline, grievance, and performance, ensuring a consistent and fair approach to people management.
  • Assisting managers in the control of absence and advising on appropriate plans of action to manage both short and long-term cases of absence issues including referrals to Occupational Health and employee assistance programmes.
  • Providing advice and support on pay and conditions, and HR policies and processes to employees and line managers.
  • Contributing to HR policy and guidance writing to ensure compliance with legal requirements and alignment with the organisation's vision.
  • Drafting letters, contracts, and reports ensuring accuracy and adherence to agreed timescales.
  • Supporting the Director of Corporate Services in the delivery of strategic projects including wellbeing initiatives, learning and development, reward strategy, and employee engagement.
  • Supporting the Director of Corporate Services on change management projects including TUPE, restructure, and redundancies.
  • Ensuring the case management system is kept up to date and provides accurate management information with trend analysis to identify issues and opportunities.
  • Liaising with the Payroll provider regarding new starters, leavers, and other employment changes to ensure Payroll is correct and updated accurately.
  • Keeping up to date with legislative and employment law changes that may impact upon HR processes and recruitment processes.
Recruitment
  • Providing guidance and support to the HR Assistant to ensure recruitment and HR processes are aligned.
  • Supporting the HR Assistant with external and internal recruitment processes including issuing contracts of employment, pre-employment checks, and other relevant correspondence.
  • Supporting with work experience and volunteers.
Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • Previous experience as an HR Advisor in a generalist role.
  • Previous experience providing HR advice and guidance on a range of complex employee relations issues.
  • Previous experience of developing and implementing HR policies.
  • Up to date knowledge of UK employment law and previous experience of TUPE transfers.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive, emotional, and contentious issues as appropriate.
  • Good communication skills, both verbally and written, along with good IT and email skills.
  • Experience of working in the health and social care/regulated sector.
  • Experience working with Trade unions.
  • Experience in the delivery of training.
