We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer with a background in electronic products to work for a long standing and highly reputable manufacturing company in Southend on Sea, Essex. You will be responsible for ensuring their products, processes, and operations meet relevant regulatory, legal, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of product safety, certifications, and global regulatory frameworks for electronic devices. The role will be based at their site in Southend on Sea, Essex. Full time permanent role.

Key Responsibilities- Product compliance - Ensure company products comply with relevant global and regional regulations (e.g., CE, UKCA, FCC, WEEE, RoHS, REACH, RCM, PSE, KCL).
- Tariff/preferential origin compliance – maintaining company knowledge of trade agreements and analysing origin of BOM parts to ensure compliance.
- GDPR compliance.
- Oversee product testing, certification processes, and documentation for all electronic consumer goods.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on emerging compliance requirements.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits with certification bodies.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to integrate compliance into product development.
- Investigate compliance incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, technical files, and risk assessments.
- Liaise with regulators, legal counsel, and industry groups when necessary.
- Oversee drafting of product user manuals.
- Experience working with testing laboratories, notified bodies, or certification agencies.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Background with reading and drafting technical documents.
- Experience with international compliance frameworks (e.g., EU directives, US regulatory systems, Asia-Pacific standards).
- Background in engineering or electronics.
