We are seeking a Technical Manager to champion quality excellence and brand integrity across our portfolio, ensuring every product is safe, ethical, and trusted from supplier to customer!
The Role:
The Technical Manager will drive quality across the whole portfolio through the implementation of rigorous quality standards. In addition, the role ensures food safety and brand integrity through due diligence and risk management. In doing so, the role provides confidence to suppliers and customers alike that products supplied are of the highest quality and ethically sourced.

- Reports to: Group Technical & Sustainability Director
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance- Responsible for management and reporting of technical KPI's
- Drive supplier approval and maintenance programme using a risk assessed schedule of audits
- Attend technical visits and first production runs
- Deliver continuous quality improvement and step change technical performance in supply chain
- Maintain accurate specifications and provide Food Information to Consumers (FIC) data
- Manage customer technical platforms and ensure technical requirements are communicated to suppliers
- Manage the artwork process and approve legal label sign off
- Complaint management, trending and reporting
- Deliver Corrective and Preventative actions
- Manage SEDEX platform and work with suppliers to ensure all products are sourced ethically and responsibly
- Help deliver sustainable packaging solutions and Remove, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle targets
- Maintain accurate packaging data and support EPR reporting
- Drive supplier conversion to global environmental and sustainability schemes
- Champion delivery of Carbon Zero target
- Help deliver BRCGS Agent & Brokers, Storage & Distribution certification
- Support implementation of E&C Quality Management System
- Active member of HACCP & VACCP teams
- Perform internal audits and test E&C management systems
- Technical expert with a detailed understanding of supply chain operations and quality management
- Engage with colleagues, suppliers and customers to help define successful sourcing strategy
- Provide advice on legal/technical issues to colleagues, suppliers and customers
- Coach and train colleagues on technical matters in respect of skill sets and product knowledge
- Be a role model for the company values and challenge team members who are not
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Degree or equivalent in food, wine or relevant science subject
- WSET Diploma qualification (desirable)
- Lead auditor qualification
- HACCP
- 3-5 years experience in a technical role within the supply base or retail
- Proven track record of delivering results in a technical role
- Auditing experience and understanding of retailer technical requirements
- Experience in implementing BRC Global Standard
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives
- Commercial awareness
- Empathetic, motivated team player and professional role model
- Ability to work collaboratively with E&C and Supplier teams
- Initiative and pro-active approach
- Effective influencing skills
- Ability to travel within the UK and overseas (potentially at short notice)
- Good IT skills, in particular Microsoft MS programmes
- Fluent in French, Spanish or Italian (desirable)
