Job Description

Under the general guidance of the Concierge, the

Door Attendant is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression for all guests entering and exiting the property.

This role includes greeting guests with professionalism and enthusiasm, opening doors, assisting with luggage, coordinating transportation, and providing directions or information about the hotel and local area.

The Door Attendant plays a vital role in setting the tone for the guest experience by offering attentive, courteous, and personalized service while maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the entrance area.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet all guests and visitors promptly and courteously as they arrive and depart from the hotel
  • Open doors for guests entering or exiting the property, offering a warm and professional welcome
  • Assist guests with luggage and direct them to the Front Desk or appropriate area
  • Coordinate with bell staff, valet, and front desk to ensure seamless guest arrivals and departures
  • Provide directions, hotel information, and local recommendations in a knowledgeable and helpful manner
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and order at the front entrance, including sweeping, organizing luggage, and assisting with umbrellas during inclement weather
  • Ensure guest safety by monitoring who enters and exits the property and reporting any suspicious behavior
  • Maintain a strong presence at the front entrance, always appearing professional, polished, and ready to assist
  • Communicate effectively with all hotel departments to ensure guest requests are fulfilled quickly
  • Provide assistance and support to guests with special needs or mobility challenges
  • Support bell and valet teams with luggage handling or vehicle coordination during peak times
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors or management
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service.
  • We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to, on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required; additional hospitality training or certification preferred
  • Minimum one to two years of experience in a guest-facing role, preferably in an upscale or luxury hotel environment
  • Strong understanding of hotel entrance procedures, guest arrival and departure flow, and bell/valet coordination
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English; additional language ability is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional guest service with professionalism, poise, and a friendly demeanor
  • Knowledge of local area attractions, transportation options, and hotel services to assist and guide guests
  • Must be able to stand, walk, or remain on foot for extended periods (minimum eight-hour shift)
  • Must be observant, proactive, and quick to respond to guest needs or unusual situations
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm and courteous under pressure or in high-traffic situations
  • Full and clean driving licence
  • Must be able to twist, bend, push/pull, reach, climb stairs, and carry or lift objects
  • Physically capable of assisting guests with luggage or mobility equipment safely and respectfully
  • Working knowledge of basic safety, security, data protection and emergency procedures in a hotel setting
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance in compliance with uniform standards
  • All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
