A Business Development Manager with Electronic Component sales experience is required to ideally focus across the defence, military, and aerospace markets, as well as others. This Electronic Component BDM position involves developing and managing relationships with new and existing accounts, identifying business opportunities, and driving sales within the open, grey, and non-franchised markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for networking at all levels, presenting company capabilities, and securing new business while working closely with internal sales teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment and account management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with clients in the defence, military and aerospace sectors.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within the open, grey, and non-franchised markets.
- Implement and execute sales strategies to increase market share and revenue.
- Conduct client visits and present company capabilities effectively.
- Network within customer organisations to build strong relationships at all levels.
- Analyse customer requirements, market trends, and competitor activities to develop sales strategies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, coordinating responses to RFQs and leads.
- Set pricing, lead times, and terms & conditions in line with company policies.
- Negotiate and close sales while accurately forecasting order volumes.
- Maintain and update all sales opportunities within the company's CRM and quote tracking systems.
- Provide accurate monthly sales forecasts and reporting for assigned accounts.
- Participate in trade shows, marketing events, and sales promotional activities.
Preferred Ideal Experience & Skills Required
- Experience in electronic components sales within the defence, military or aerospace sectors.
- Proven experience in open, grey and non-franchised markets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presentations and negotiations.
- Demonstrated ability to scout, qualify, and secure new business opportunities.
- Strong follow‐up skills to drive and close sales.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with customers, sales partners, and internal teams.
- Experience working with independent distribution and electronics testing.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at multiple levels, including senior management, engineering, and supply chain teams.
- Self‐motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Willingness to travel across the UK for client meetings and also overseas on occasions too.
