Enlightenment Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Derby for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEND Hub. Due to an increase in pupil numbers within the Hub, the school is looking to appoint an additional member of staff to provide consistent support while they complete their permanent recruitment process. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established specialist provision, supporting children with a range of additional needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech, communication and language needs.
The school is seeking someone who is proactive, nurturing and confident, with the ability to build positive relationships and provide the high level of support their pupils require.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils within the specialist SEND Hub.
- Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support.
- Support children with Autism (ASD) and speech, communication and language needs.
- Promote pupils' independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
- Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider school team.
- Create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Use initiative to respond to pupils' needs throughout the school day.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant.
- A strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Experience supporting children with communication and language needs.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
