Long-term temporary contract with the o pportunity to move permanent for the right candidate Enlightenment Education is recruiting a proactive and reliable Site Manager to support a busy school in Derby. You'll play a key role in keeping the site safe, secure, clean and well-maintained. This position will start on a long-term temporary basis , with a clear opportunity to progress to a permanent contract for the right person. About the role You'll deliver an efficient site management and caretaking service, ensuring the building and grounds remain safe, healthy and attractive for pupils, staff and visitors. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on health & safety, maintenance, compliance and facilities management. Key responsibilities Carry out daily site checks and ensure full compliance with health & safety policies Maintain heating systems, water hygiene checks, legionella testing and accurate records Complete first-line repairs, minor plumbing, painting and general maintenance Keep external areas, drains, gullies and grounds clean, safe and well-maintained Oversee contractors and monitor works on site Manage site security, including opening/locking and responding to emergencies Support cleaning standards and deep-cleaning schedules Ensure CoSHH, fire safety checks and PAT testing requirements are met Maintain stock levels of consumables and report low levels Provide porterage, deliveries and occasional support across other sites What we're looking for Essential: IOSH Level 3 or willingness to work towards Health & Safety certification Experience in site or facilities management Knowledge of basic repairs, maintenance and compliance checks Fire Safety, CoSHH, Legionella and Asbestos awareness Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills Basic IT skills for record-keeping Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites Desirable: Leadership or sustainability qualifications Experience managing contractors and multi-site teams Knowledge of RIDDOR, HSE, CDM regulations and safeguarding Personal attributes We're looking for someone proactive, organised and able to build strong working relationships.
