reliable and enthusiastic people to support schools across Derby and the surrounding areas on an ad hoc basis. This could be a great opportunity for
university students studying courses such as Education, Childhood Studies, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Youth Work or SEND , as well as people with relevant experience from other backgrounds. You don't need to be an experienced Teaching Assistant to apply. However, we're looking for people who have
something to bring to the table
whether that's relevant study, previous work with children or young people, care experience, coaching, mentoring, volunteering or other transferable skills. Could this be you?
You might be: A university student looking for work alongside your studies
Studying Education, Psychology, Childhood Studies, SEND, Counselling or a related subject
A parent looking for occasional school work
Working in another role but looking for additional flexible days
Someone with previous childcare, care, youth work, sports or mentoring experience
Considering a career in education and wanting to gain valuable school experience
What we're looking for
Most importantly, you must have: Strong communication skills
Good spoken and written English
A professional and reliable approach
Confidence working with children and young people
Patience and the ability to remain calm
A genuine interest in supporting pupils
The ability to adapt quickly to different school environments
Relevant experience, qualifications, study or
transferable skills
Experience of SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH or behaviour is an advantage, but
training and support will be provided where appropriate . What could you be doing?
Our schools may need support with: 1:1 pupil support
SEND and specialist provisions
Classroom support
Behaviour support
Supporting pupils with additional needs
Helping children access learning
Break and lunchtime support
