Outreach Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Community Support (Year 9)
Location: Buxton/Chesterfield
Hours: 3 days per week (flexible)
Contract: Ongoing supply / temporary basis

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Outreach Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with 2 students in the community. The students have been out of school for some time due to confidence and anxiety challenges, and require patient, nurturing support to help rebuild their self-esteem and re-engage with learning. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in a young person’s life, supporting both academic progress and personal development outside of a traditional classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to secondary aged students in the community.
- Help build confidence, resilience, and motivation to re-engage with education.
- Deliver structured learning activities in line with the student’s needs and abilities.
- Work closely with schools, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistent support.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and engagement.
Requirements
- Preferably have previous experience supporting young people with additional needs, anxiety, or low confidence.
- A nurturing, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Ability to adapt learning to suit individual needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Driver with access to own transport (essential, as the role is community-based).
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
