A well-established and supportive secondary academy in Slough is seeking to appoint a Cover Manager to join their team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and confident individual who enjoys working with young people and is looking to develop a career in education.
The position involves overseeing staff cover arrangements and regularly stepping into the classroom to deliver pre-set lessons, making it ideal for the right candidate. The post has become available following the internal promotion of the current postholder.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the daily administration and organisation of staff absence cover across the Secondary Phase
- Deliver lessons in the absence of teachers, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment
- Liaise with internal staff and external supply agencies to ensure appropriate cover is arranged promptly each day
- Maintain accurate records and respond flexibly to changing needs within the school day
- Working hours: 6:45 AM – 3:00 PM (non-negotiable to ensure cover is in place before the school day begins)
- Work pattern: Term time only, plus two additional weeks to cover professional development days and exam results-related duties in August
- No lesson planning or marking required
- Immediate start available
- Minimum Level 3 qualification (A-levels, NVQ or equivalent)
- GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent)
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Confident, proactive, and calm under pressure
- Prior experience in a school or education setting is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided
