The School Behaviour Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring strategies to promote positive behaviour and ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. This role involves working closely with staff, students, and parents to manage behaviour effectively and support students’ social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Behaviour Policy Implementation: Lead on the development and enforcement of the school’s behaviour policy. Ensure consistency in behaviour management across all staff and departments.
- Student Support: Work with students displaying challenging behaviour to identify underlying issues and provide tailored interventions. Coordinate restorative practices and conflict resolution sessions.
- Staff Guidance & Training: Provide training and coaching for staff on behaviour management strategies. Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour effectively.
- Data Monitoring & Reporting: Track and analyse behaviour incidents using school systems. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership and governors.
- Parent & Community Engagement: Communicate with parents regarding behaviour concerns and progress. Liaise with external agencies (e.g., social services, educational psychologists) when necessary.
- Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Ensure all behaviour management practices align with safeguarding policies. Promote student wellbeing and inclusion.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and child development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Experience working in an educational setting (preferably with behaviour management responsibilities).
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
