Enlighten Learning is a growing education startup providing tailored one-to-one online tuition across GCSE and A-Level subjects. Our tutors are carefully selected, high-achieving students from some of the UK’s leading universities who combine strong academic backgrounds with the ability to connect with and guide younger students through their educational journey. We take a personalised approach to learning, speaking with every client to understand each student’s specific needs, goals and personality before matching them with a suitable tutor.
As we enter our next stage of growth, we’re looking for an Operations Intern to join our team and play a leading role in growing and supporting our tutor community.
About the role:
We’re looking for someone who is organised, confident, and proactive to manage the day-to-day recruitment, onboarding and support of our tutors. You will:
- Screen applications, conduct tutor interviews, and make final decisions about who is accepted.
- Be the main point of contact for tutors needing help with applications, onboarding, payments, or other operational processes.
- Have much more autonomy than in a typical internship, with meaningful responsibility and real decision-making authority.
- Work closely with the Co-founders, with your ideas and input valued beyond your core responsibilities.
What will you be doing?
- Own the tutor recruitment process from end to end, from screening applications and identifying strong candidates to conducting interviews and making final decisions on who is accepted as a tutor.
- Keep our recruitment operations organised, maintaining accurate application, interview and hiring records while managing our tutor job postings across different recruitment platforms.
- Monitor our tutor needs across different subjects, identifying areas where availability is low and taking action to strengthen our tutor pipeline where needed.
- Provide support across applications, onboarding, payments and other day-to-day operational issues.
- Resolve routine issues independently and escalate more complex ones to the Co-founders with a clear summary and suggested solution.
Time Commitment:
This is a part-time, remote position requiring up to 10 hours per week. The role offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to manage most of your work around your own schedule. Most of your time will be spent conducting tutor interviews during the weekdays, depending on candidate availability. You will also need to be available at points throughout the week to handle ad-hoc operational tasks and tutor queries as they arise. There is also some flexibility to work on weekends.
What we're looking for:
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to lead professional video interviews.
- Highly organised with good attention to detail.
- Reliable to manage a large number of interviews, applicant updates and tutor enquiries each week.
- Proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes, with an interest in AI and new technologies being a bonus.
- A self-starter who is comfortable working independently.
Requirements:
- Currently studying at university or be a recent graduate.
- Must be a UK resident, with a UK bank account & phone number.
- Able to travel to London occasionally.
- Strong academic record at GCSEs & A-Levels.
Location: Fully Remote, with occasional visits to our London office.
Working Pattern: Flexible, primarily on weekdays.
Internship Duration: 6 Months
Start Date: 7th September 2026
End Date: 1st March 2027
Please note: Enlighten Learning pauses all hiring during the month of December, therefore there will be a month break during December, with the internship resuming in January.
