An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Professional Indemnity Lawyer with 7+ years' PQE to join a growing specialist boutique law firm in London at Senior Associate level. The firm has ambitious plans for continued growth and offers an opportunity to join a forward-thinking practice with a more personal, collaborative and entrepreneurial approach.

The Professional Indemnity team advises on a broad range of professional negligence claims involving solicitors, accountants, surveyors, property professionals and construction professionals. The team also provides specialist advice on professional indemnity policy coverage issues and disputes. The work is varied and technically challenging, covering the full lifecycle of claims, from the pre-action stage through to alternative dispute resolution (ADR), litigation and arbitration.

The successful candidate will therefore have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex matters confidently and independently. They will have the opportunity to work closely with the firm's leadership team, take ownership of complex matters and make a meaningful contribution to the continued development and success of the Professional Indemnity offering.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day conduct of professional indemnity claims, from initial instruction through to resolution.
  • Reviewing documentation, preparing reports and providing clear, commercially focused advice to Insureds and Insurers.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with Insureds, Insurers and other key stakeholders.
  • Managing disclosure, reviewing evidence and conducting investigations.
  • Instructing and working closely with Counsel and expert witnesses.
  • Managing correspondence and ensuring matters progress efficiently.
  • Attending court appointments and taking responsibility for procedural aspects of claims.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and relevant service standards.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least 7 years' post-qualification experience in Professional Indemnity, with a strong background in professional negligence litigation.
  • Have experience handling complex professional indemnity claims and advising Insurer clients.
  • Demonstrate strong technical ability and excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.
  • Be confident managing a varied caseload with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Possess a commercial approach and an ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Be entrepreneurial in outlook and keen to contribute to business development and the growth of the practice.

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for a Senior Associate looking to move away from the traditional larger-firm environment and become part of a growing specialist boutique. The firm offers the opportunity to work in a close-knit and entrepreneurial environment, gain exposure to high-quality and varied work, develop strong client relationships and play an active role in shaping the future of the practice.

For the right individual, this is an opportunity to do more than simply manage a caseload: it is a chance to help build and grow a successful Professional Indemnity team within an ambitious independent law firm.
