In-house Lawyer

10 + years PQE

West Midlands (Hybrid)

£80K - 110K + car allowance + bonus

THE ROLE: The In-house Lawyer will work closely with the Board, Executive Leadership team as well as internal and external stakeholders. Driving strategic and tactical legal decision making and supporting all areas of the business on general legal matters. This will include:

  • Providing expert advice and oversight of the key aspects of the business and the related company agreements, for example concession deed, financing including debt raising, key operational contracts.
  • Providing advice in relation to ongoing operational matters such as procurement and contracting matters and oversight over employment contract matters.
  • Major project contracts and overseeing compliance to the contracts and potential disputes.
  • Leading contractual disputes.
  • Drafting and / or review of contracts.
  • Providing oversight to ensure compliance to key contracts and regulations, for example Environmental Law and Safety.

THE CANDIDATE: The successful Lawyer will have proven post qualifying experience (in excess of c10years PQE), together with in-house experience in a generalist capacity.

  • Demonstrable experience in identifying and mitigating/harnessing risks and opportunities.
  • Experienced in partnering with business partners, including finance, sales, HR, product strategy, sustainability, marketing and business operations across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • In-house experience with proven strong drafting, communication, and excellent organisational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, optimistic in outlook, confidence and passion to build effective working relationships and partner with the business;
  • Ability to demonstrate a pro-active and commercial approach in identifying solutions and mitigating risk in a manner which supports business objectives;
  • Experience with JCT / NEC contracts
