THE ROLE:
- Produce detailed Bills of Costs for formal assessment across a range of matters, including inter partes, legal aid, and solicitor–client cases.
- Compile Schedules of Costs to support summary assessment applications.
- Examine and evaluate case files to identify and extract the information required for accurate cost drafting.
- Work closely with fee earners to confirm case details and ensure all cost documentation is precise and complete.
- Draft and respond to Points of Dispute and Replies when required.
- Monitor and remain informed about developments in costs law, the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), and relevant case law.
- Assist with the preparation of matters for costs hearings and detailed assessments.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- You will have proven experience drafting Bills of Costs for high value complex cases, within a law firm or costs consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Familiarity with costs budgeting and costs management processes.
- Proficiency in costs drafting software
- You will exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and work well within a team environment.
