THE ROLE: You will gain broad and varied exposure to corporate tax, advising on a range of high-value and commercially significant matters including tax structuring for acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations, tax clearances, stamp duty, VAT, international tax issues, and tax disputes. The role offers particularly strong exposure to the venture capital market, where you will advise on tax-efficient investments and the establishment of share incentive schemes. You will play an active role across transactional matters, from document reviews, tax deeds and warranties through to HMRC applications for S/EIS relief and investor certificates. Working closely with clients and their wider professional advisers, you will develop your technical expertise while delivering pragmatic, commercially focused solutions and gaining valuable insight into the strategic role tax plays within transactions and growing businesses.
THE CANDIDATE: Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors with 2–5 years’ PQE who have experience in corporate tax or a genuine enthusiasm for developing their career within this specialist and commercially driven area. You will bring strong technical and analytical ability, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a keen eye for detail, alongside the confidence to take ownership of a varied and demanding workload. Commercial awareness is key, as is the ability to build strong relationships and communicate confidently with clients and their professional advisers. You will be equally comfortable working autonomously and contributing as part of a collaborative team, with a proactive and adaptable approach to managing competing priorities. The ability to remain calm under pressure, anticipate what is needed and respond effectively to the demands of both clients and fee earners will be highly valued.
THE FIRM: This is a highly regarded firm with a strong reputation for providing commercially focused legal advice to businesses and their owners. Its Corporate Tax team advises clients across the full spectrum of corporate tax issues and works closely with other practice areas and external advisers to provide a comprehensive service. The team has particular expertise in transactional tax, venture capital and share incentives, while maintaining strong, long-term relationships with clients as trusted advisers.
