We are compiling a team of experts to support an undergraduate student looking to build his skillset ahead of joining a family business. The goal is to prepare the student for leadership and provide him with skills alongside his studies that will enable him to enter the world of work with confidence and make valuable contributions.
The student will be working with a number of specialists across complementary disciplines. We are now looking for an experienced public speaking specialist to deliver a focused programme developing his confidence, clarity and effectiveness when communicating with different audiences.
The programme should provide the student with practical experience across a range of professional speaking situations, including presentations, meetings, pitches, interviews, networking conversations and unscripted questions. It should help him communicate ideas persuasively, adapt his style to his audience and develop an authentic and credible presence.
This is intended to be a highly interactive programme, incorporating regular speaking practice, constructive feedback, practical exercises and examples drawn from real professional situations.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced public speaking specialist with a strong track record of developing confident and effective communicators and leaders.
Candidates may come from backgrounds including executive coaching, communications training, broadcasting, theatre, speech and drama, leadership development, media training or professional speaking. Experience supporting emerging leaders, senior executives or individuals preparing for high-profile professional situations would be particularly valuable.
The strongest candidates will be able to combine technical expertise with an encouraging and highly practical teaching style. They should be able to identify the student’s individual strengths and development areas, build his confidence progressively and provide clear, actionable feedback.
The ideal specialist will demonstrate:
- Significant experience teaching public speaking, presentation skills or executive communication.
- Expertise in structuring and delivering clear, persuasive presentations.
- A strong understanding of storytelling, rhetoric and audience engagement.
- The ability to develop vocal delivery, including pace, tone, projection, emphasis and clarity.
- Practical knowledge of body language, presence and non-verbal communication.
- Experience helping individuals manage nerves and communicate confidently under pressure.
- The ability to prepare students for questions, objections and unscripted speaking situations.
- Experience developing communication styles appropriate for meetings, pitches, interviews and leadership settings.
- A supportive and adaptable approach suited to someone with limited professional speaking experience.
The programme should give the student a strong practical grounding in public speaking and professional communication while helping him develop a confident and authentic personal style.

Proposed Structure
The structure will be developed collaboratively, with six-week sprints of masterclasses and an additional two weeks for embedding and reflecting on learning.
Each session should include substantial opportunities for the student to practise speaking and receive specific, constructive feedback. Short assignments between sessions are encouraged, including preparing and delivering presentations, recording practice speeches, analysing effective speakers and applying techniques in real academic or professional settings.
The programme should evolve in response to the student’s progress, interests and aptitude, allowing greater depth to be introduced in areas where he would benefit from further development or demonstrates particular ability.
