This is a hands‑on, highly technical position where you will be involved in electronics development across the entire product lifecycle. This is a dynamic Tech Dev role, meaning you must be able to move between innovation, New Product Development (NPD), and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI). From early breadboard prototypes and first‑pass PCB designs, through to production‑ready solutions, you’ll oversee every stage involving electronics, while collaborating closely with manufacturing partners in the Asia‑Pacific region. Reporting to the Head of Product Design and Innovation you will be part of an energetic and highly ambitious multifunctional team. This role will spend 4 days per week in office in West Lothian. Now entering an exciting new chapter their growth strategy involves strengthening core technical capabilities within their product team. One such role, Senior Electronics Engineer, will be significant in shaping the next generation of products by transforming creative ideas into robust, production‑ready, high‑volume solutions.
What you’ll do
- Concept-to-Prototype Development: Own the process of turning ideas into physical electronic systems, from initial breadboarding to fully functioning prototype rigs.
- Specification & Documentation: Generate electronics requirements, capturing specifications meticulously and translating them into actionable design documents.
- Supplier Collaboration: Work with manufacturing partners (primarily in China) to develop solutions that can scale from prototype to production.
- Testing & Validation: Lead test programs for electronic components, ensuring reliability, compliance, and performance against our key requirements in partnership with our product testing team.
- Cross‑Functional Support: Provide ad‑hoc technical input to product design engineers, product category managers, and customer experience teams to help solve electronics‑related challenges.
- Define the System Logic: Contribute to the application layer development and help define how the system behaves. Translate real‑world requirements into a logical control flow.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, detail‑oriented engineer who enjoys turning ideas into working prototypes and is comfortable giving input across the entire product development lifecycle. You’ll thrive if you’re a collaborative problem‑solver who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.
Essential Skills & Experience

- Ability to read, create and troubleshoot schematics as well employ good design principles.
- Experience with at least one EDA tool such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar.
- Ability to write and debug simple C/C++ scripts to support prototyping and communicate the flow of an application layer.
- Familiarity with common embedded communication protocols (I²C, SPI, CAN, UART, etc).
- Experience designing for actuators, sensors, and control systems.
- Hands‑on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with power delivery systems including mains, USB‑PD, batteries, and switching regulators.
