At Eni, we are looking for a Sustainability & Communications Officer (Graduate) to join Liverpool Bay CCS in Northop. You will support the Sustainability & Communications Manager with the delivery of sustainability and communication initiatives around community investment and stakeholder engagement programmes for the Liverpool Bay CO2 Transportation and Storage (T&S) project and supporting infrastructure, the delivery of internal communications initiatives, and administrative support related to reporting requirements.
Please note that this role is based in Northrop but flexibility would be required to visit multiple sites across North-West England and North Wales.

Liverpool Bay CCS Limited, a member of the Eni S.p.A. group, is the owner and operator of the Liverpool Bay Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) Transportation and Storage (T&S) infrastructure. This project is a key component of the HyNet North West Industrial Cluster, aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the North West of England and North Wales. Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd works with hard-to-abate industries in the North West of England and North Wales, to transport captured CO₂ from various plants to safe and permanent storage beneath Liverpool Bay. The company is re-purposing some of its existing infrastructure, including depleted reservoirs that have held natural gas for millions of years, to support economic growth in the region and help the UK achieve its Net Zero objectives. Main responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of sustainability and communication initiatives around community investment and stakeholder engagement programmes for the Liverpool Bay CO2 Transportation and Storage (T&S) project and supporting infrastructure.
- Support the development of internal and external communication materials in line with the Company’s relevant strategies, including but not limited to Company intranet news items and providing written materials for newsletters, presentations, reports, press releases and electronic communications.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements relevant to the Sustainability and Communications function, through effective administrative support, including coordination of reports and corporate compliance requirements in support of the Sustainability & Communications Manager.
- Support the delivery of Point of Ayr Land Management obligations, including but not limited to educational provision, stakeholder engagement and alignment with planning consents in support of the PoA Land Management Adviser.
- Support in the development and maintenance of the Company’s stakeholder database.
- Assist with the development and delivery of events.
- Assist with financial requirements including processing invoices to ensure financial compliance.
- Work collaboratively with contractors, including those providing engagement support services through the construction phase of the Liverpool Bay CO2 T&S infrastructure.
- Support any ad-hoc activities as requested by the Sustainability & Communications Manager.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree-level qualification in a communications-related discipline.
- Professional membership in a related area would be an advantage.
- Prior internship experience in public relations, marketing, journalism, or public affairs would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with the Liverpool Bay region and local community landscape would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of large-scale infrastructure, construction, sustainability, CCUS, and/or Net Zero policies would be an advantage.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proactive nature with the ability to work independently across multiple sites.
