An established mechanical building services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the delivery of three laboratory refurbishment projects in Richmond. This is a technically challenging and documentation-heavy role, working on a design & build contract where the business is acting as the Principal Contractor due to the mechanical dominance of the works.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing the full mechanical package while also managing the wider build elements across the projects. This role requires someone with a strong engineering background who is comfortable managing technical coordination, project documentation, subcontractors, programme delivery, and client interaction within live and regulated environments. Due to the nature of the projects, the role will involve a significant amount of project administration and technical paperwork, so strong organisational and reporting skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of three laboratory refurbishment projects
  • Oversee mechanical installations and coordinate wider build activities
  • Act as the lead site-based Project Manager on behalf of the Principal Contractor
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist trades
  • Coordinate design development and technical submissions
  • Manage RFIs, CVIs, programme updates, and project reporting
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
  • Maintain high standards of quality assurance and documentation
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal delivery teams
  • Support commissioning, snagging, and project handover activities
Experience & Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the UK building services sector
  • Strong experience delivering commercial or laboratory refurbishment projects
  • Experience working on design & build contracts
  • Engineering background essential
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems
  • Experience managing projects with high levels of technical documentation and compliance
