An established, privately owned engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to support the Managing Director in the day-to-day running of the business and oversee the delivery of multiple live projects. This is a key leadership role within a small, quality-driven contractor, offering genuine long-term progression into Director-level positions and potential ownership.

Role Overview

You will work closely with the Managing Director/Owner, taking responsibility for the operational performance of the business, with oversight across 6–10 live commercial projects at any one time. The role requires a strong engineering background, ideally mechanically biased, with the ability to manage both people and projects in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Managing Director in the day-to-day operations of the business
  • Oversee delivery across multiple live projects (typically 6–10)
  • Provide leadership and support to project teams and site managers
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard of quality
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners
  • Monitor programme performance, resources, and operational efficiency
  • Support business growth and contribute to strategic planning
