An established turnkey contractor with a turnover of over £80m is seeking an experienced Mechanical Senior Engineer to join its Technical Services team. The company has built its reputation through long-term client relationships, technical excellence, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions across a wide range of sectors. This role will be based across the company's South East London offices and client locations, supporting both project delivery teams and key client accounts.
The Role
This position is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to move into a highly technical role focused on design development, technical assurance, commissioning, and client advisory services. You will work closely with clients, consultants, and internal delivery teams to provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, while also supporting asset management and building performance strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strong client relationships and provide technical support to become a trusted advisor
- Assist with the assessment of new opportunities and fee proposals
- Provide technical support to project delivery teams through Stage 5 design development
- Review and approve technical submissions to ensure alignment with design intent
- Produce mechanical calculations and design solutions from concept through to detailed design
- Monitor construction works and provide technical oversight to ensure quality and compliance
- Lead key testing and commissioning activities, including Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and Black Building Tests
- Undertake technical appraisals of existing buildings and infrastructure
- Produce Energy Performance Assessments
- Carry out load and capacity reviews
- Develop Life Cycle Replacement Reports
- Complete Single Point of Failure (SPOF) Analysis
- Undertake resiliency and building performance reviews
Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience within Mechanical Building Services Engineering
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC, public health, and mechanical systems
- Experience supporting projects through design, delivery, commissioning, and handover
- Experience carrying out technical reviews and design assessments
- Strong understanding of testing and commissioning processes
- Ability to engage confidently with clients and technical stakeholders
- Experience within commercial, healthcare, critical environment, or large-scale building services projects would be advantageous
