This role sits between pre-construction and project delivery, taking ownership of the technical and procurement elements of projects from Stage 3/4 design through to Stage 5 delivery. The position would suit someone from a site management or project delivery background who has developed strong technical knowledge and is now looking to move away from the day-to-day pressures of running live sites while remaining heavily involved in project delivery and engineering coordination.

Role Overview

You will take responsibility for managing the technical progression of projects through design development, procurement, technical submissions, and plant selection, ensuring projects are fully coordinated and prepared for successful delivery on site. Working closely with estimating, design, commercial, and operational teams, you will act as a key link between pre-construction and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of projects from Stage 3/4 design through to Stage 5 delivery
  • Manage procurement activities from estimating handover onwards
  • Produce and manage all mechanical technical submissions
  • Technically appraise and procure major mechanical plant and equipment
  • Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams
  • Review drawings, specifications, and design information
  • Support design coordination and technical problem-solving throughout pre-construction
  • Assist operational teams during project mobilisation and early delivery stages
  • Ensure all technical documentation is managed accurately and in line with programme requirements

Experience & Requirements

  • Background within mechanical building services projects
  • Previous experience within site management, project engineering, or project management roles
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and plant
  • Experience managing technical submissions and procurement processes
  • Good understanding of project delivery and construction sequencing
  • Experience within residential or large-scale building services projects preferred

Skills

  • Strong technical and organisational capability
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Detail-oriented and methodical approach
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of procurement processes

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong delivery experience to transition into a more technically focused role within a major building services contractor. The role offers long-term progression, exposure to large-scale residential developments, and the opportunity to remain heavily involved in projects without the day-to-day pressures of site-based management.
