Enhance Catering is currently recruiting on behalf of one of its valued care sector clients for an experienced and motivated Regional Head Chef to join their Hospitality team. This is an exciting, field-based opportunity covering a cluster of care homes across Essex. You will play a key role in supporting kitchen operations across multiple sites, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Working closely with the Regional Support Chef and Group Hospitality Manager, you will provide hands-on culinary leadership, step in to support homes during staff absences or shortages, assist with new home openings, and help ensure every resident enjoys nutritious, well-balanced, and high-quality meals tailored to their individual needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced chef who thrives in a multi-site leadership role and is passionate about delivering excellent food within a care environment.

Location: Cluster of Care Homes across Essex

Hours: 40 hours per week (5 days)

Salary: £35,360 per annum

Role Type: Field-based / Multi-site (travel required)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support kitchen operations across multiple care homes within the region
  • Step into homes to lead kitchen teams during staff shortages, absences, or new openings
  • Ensure food is consistently prepared, presented, and served to high standards
  • Maintain compliance with all nutritional guidelines, dietary requirements, and care plans
  • Ensure full adherence to HACCP, food hygiene, and health & safety standards
  • Conduct kitchen audits where required and implement corrective actions
  • Support, train, and develop on-site kitchen teams to improve consistency and performance
  • Work closely with home management teams to maintain strong working relationships
  • Participate in chef forums, training sessions, and best practice sharing initiatives
  • Monitor food budgets, stock control, portioning, and waste reduction
  • Gather feedback from residents and families to continually improve dining experiences
  • Promote a positive, professional, and high-performing kitchen culture across all sites

About You:

We are seeking a confident, experienced, and adaptable chef with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering high-quality food in a care setting. You will have:

  • Minimum Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef (care, healthcare, or similar environment preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel across multiple sites
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to train, motivate, and support kitchen teams
  • Strong understanding of dietary needs, nutrition, and compliance standards
  • A proactive, hands-on, and adaptable approach
  • A satisfactory DBS check and strong references will be required.
