Are you an experienced Chef looking for more sociable hours? We are looking for a passionate Sous Chef for a permanent opportunity at a Refugee Centre in the Braintree area. The site is looking for an experienced Chef with experience in cooking in high volume, catering up to 700, with the potential to expand more. There is a breakfast, lunch and dinner service, of which you will oversee.

What's Required:

  • Previous Catering experience as a Senior CDP or Sous Chef, preferably within high volume restaurants or contract catering environment.
  • Confident working in a busy kitchen and possess prior experience supervising staff.
  • A high level of professionalism, with respect for others, and a positive attitude towards the day to day workload.
  • Experience in producing food of a high quality.
  • A current level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen certificate.
  • Valid right to work in the UK.
  • Be flexible in approach, self-motivated, well-organised and able to effectively implement improvements.
  • Access to your own transport.

Criteria

Essential Attainments:

  • Good secondary education NVQ qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent craft skills background.
  • Successful progressive background in catering.
  • Basic and Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Allergen training.
  • Good Supervisory experience.
  • Ability to display a real passion for food and customer service.

Desirable:

  • Successful progressive background in education catering.
  • Management of medium/large size kitchen.
  • General Intelligence.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to plan ahead.
  • Demonstrate an analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Good numeracy skills.
