We have a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and committed Caretaker to join our school team. This is a valued role within the school community, helping to ensure that our buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, and well maintained so that pupils and staff can learn and work in a positive and welcoming environment. The Estates Assistant plays an important part in this by helping to maintain the school site to a high standard and ensuring that the environment supports the wellbeing of everyone who uses it. We are seeking a proactive and practical individual who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of maintaining a safe and well maintained school environment. Working under the direction of senior staff, you will support the day-to-day operation, security, and maintenance of the school premises, helping to ensure that facilities are safe, clean and ready for learning each day. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes initiative, and wants to play a meaningful role within a school community. Your work will help create an environment where pupils can thrive and where staff and visitors feel welcomed and supported.

About the Role

  • Assist in maintaining the security of the school site, including locking and unlocking buildings and carrying out routine checks
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, replacing light bulbs and general upkeep
  • Support the safe operation of heating, lighting and other site systems
  • Help maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment both inside the school and across the grounds
  • Assist with moving furniture, setting up spaces and supporting contractors where required
  • Contribute to maintaining health and safety standards across the site
