We're working with a well-established local authority to find a
Delivery Manager to lead the delivery of Major Projects and Active Travel investment across their highway network.
This is a senior leadership contract role with real influence shaping how a multi-million-pound capital programme gets delivered, not just administering it.
What you'll be doing
- Leading delivery of major civil engineering and active travel schemes, so you'll see projects through from commission to completion, not just one phase.
- Managing procurement routes and NEC contracts as Project/Service Manager, so you'll have genuine commercial control over supply chain performance.
- Leading and developing a team of Delivery Officers, so you'll be building capability, not just hitting targets.
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2015, so you'll carry real accountability for safety across every scheme.
- Engaging directly with Senior Managers and Elected Members, so you'll have visibility and influence at the top of the organisation.
What they're looking for
- Substantial management experience delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure or maintenance projects.
- Proven experience managing consultancies, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong commercial acumen (NEC contract administration, procurement, negotiation).
- Comfortable operating in a political environment, with the ability to prioritise and travel county-wide.
What's on offer
- Strong day rate of £375–£450, reflecting the seniority and scope of the role.
- A genuinely long-term contract, this council has strong, secure funding, with a continual pipeline of ongoing and new projects, so there's no shortage of work ahead.
- Hybrid working.
- A short, streamlined interview process, so you're not waiting weeks to know where you stand.
This is a confidential search, and full details are shared only in conversation.
If you're interested in the above and are ready for a contract with genuine scope, stability, and influence, I'd welcome a confidential chat!
